Westin Resort Macau’s first appeal is the hotel’s dramatic setting. It sits on a South China Sea black sand beach on Coloane Island. If that isn’t exotic enough, behind the hotel—indeed, above and behind it, with guest access from a rooftop bridge—is the Macau Golf and Country Club course. You walk off the 18th green and onto the hotel.

The eight floors of the hotel stair-step from the higher golf course level down to the beach level. Consequently, each room on each floor has an outside oceanfront view. The view alone is worth the visit. Other outdoor accommodations include a swimming pool (there’s an indoor pool, as well) and biking and hiking of trails in Coloane National Park.

Dining is a function of two restaurants—with choices of indoor or outdoor seating. One bistro serves local and international fare and the other strictly Chinese cuisine. Business meetings and other gatherings are accommodated with a suite of venues. For all its seclusion, Westin Resort isn’t remote. Just a few minutes away are Cotai Strip activities.
