"The Nutcracker" by the St. Petersburg Ballet Theatre (SPBT) will enrapture audiences in Macao with its strong, solid sense of ballet quality, tradition and grandeur. Based in the Russian city recognized of being the centre of performing arts, SPBT will be the perfect opening show for CCMs 2010 exciting programme line up!

In the leading roles will be the world renowned Prima Ballerina Irina Kolesnikova, as Clara, and principal dancer Dmitry Akulinin, as the prince. With a dramatic profound style, glittering technique and stage artistry, Irina is described as being the jewel in the crown of the SPBT, astounding audiences and critics all over the best international stages.

The Nutcracker, a prince who was cursed by a spell turning him into a living wooden toy, meets Clara while shes on a journey to a wonderful kingdom. Both set off their efforts to fight the devil power of the Mouse King. Along the way they meet the Snow Queen and visit the Land of the Sweets. Tchaikovskys score and the fascinating costumes and sets, along with the artistry of SPBT will make this Christmas masterwork an unforgettable hit for the whole family.
