On Wednesday 24th March, The British Business Association of Macao will be hosting a business luncheon focussing on the Light Rail Transit Development in Macau.

We are delighted to welcome Dr. Michael Lam, Technical Consultant of Transportation Infrastructure Office, as our speaker for this event.

The development of Phase 1 Macau Light Rapid Transit System is currently underway. At the same time, the future phases of LRT and associated multimodal transport interchanges are being planned in association with the Phase 1 LRT. The integration with the PRD region through LRT and railways is also an essential element in the planning process. In this talk, the development of Macaus LRT system will be presented and will cover various aspects including plans, design principles, projects and relevant updated information.

Dr Lam Soi Hoi, Michael, is currently a Technical Consultant at the Transportation Infrastructure Office (or Gabinete para as Infra-estruturas de Transportes, GIT), Macao S.A.R. He obtained his PhD at the University of Texas at Austin and has more than 25 years experience in transportation, with specialty areas in planning, systems analysis, public transport and intelligent transportation systems. Dr Lam has published more than 100 papers in international journals and conference proceedings, including a number of papers written specifically on Macaos LRT system and transportation planning. He is currently an associate editor of the Transportmetrica and IET Intelligent Transport Systems journals, and an advisor for the Macao Transportation Engineer Association. Prior to his current position, he was an Associate Professor at the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, for more than 15 years.
